Breakdown Prime is a hands-on kind of 'bot, which means rolling out his technical expertise onto the field of battle.
To facilitiate this more active role in the Decepticon forces, he upgraded and bulked out his physical form, using his own engineering knowhow to create a more resilient torso. It also somewhat 'protects' him from near crippling paranoia, because he truly believes everyone (even his allies) is out to get him. Breakdown Prime has a healthy dose of respect for his enemies, but his rivalry with Bulkhead has become the stuff of legend.
